Our day begins with children completing a start of the day activity (SODA) which gives them the opportunity to settle into the day and get ready for a day of learning. 

Their first lesson is always reading, where children explore a wide range of text types as a whole class. We will spend time discussing new vocabulary and exploring a range of themes within texts. 

We then move onto our writing lessons. In writing children are exposed to a variety of texts by different authors which inspire their own creativity. 

After break, we have Maths, when children will be building on their prior knowledge and working hard to master new skills. 

Our afternoons are for the foundation subjects where children will engage in a variety of lessons . These lessons include RE, PE, art and design, science, computing, Spanish, PSHE, design and technology, history and geography. 

Homework and new reading books are sent home every Friday and need to be returned by the following Wednesday. Spellings will also be sent home on Friday, and children will be tested on them the following Friday. To move up our reading rewards ladder parents must comment and sign their child's reading journal at least 3 times each week. 

Homework will be set on Google Classroom and will include the following tasks:

Please support your children by practising spellings, listening to them read often and offering guidance with homework tasks. PE takes place on Tuesdays, so please make sure children wear their PE kit to school. 

Children also have the opportunity to visit the school library every Thursday and select their own book to read for pleasure, this may be read to your child to be enjoyed. Please read with your children as much as possible as it really does help with their learning in many areas across the curriculum.
